Role of the Board of Directors

The Board is composed of twelve officers: President, President Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, 3 Directors, 5 Chairs, and the Immediate Past President. The Board meets on the second Tuesday of the month. Only Regular and Affiliate members may serve on the Board.

The Board is responsible for carrying out the directives of the membership and the duties prescribed in the Chapter Bylaws. The Board will also help set the goals of the Chapter and monitor the progress of the goals. The Chapter Treasurer, in conjunction with the committee chairs, will prepare the annual Chapter budget and monitor all financial activities.

Serving on the Board of Directors is an excellent way to improve your organizational and time management skills. It demonstrates your commitment to your profession. Serving on the Board allows you an opportunity to work as a team. You may also be required to supervise other committee members. This will develop your leadership skills. Although the Board does require a time commitment, the personal and professional rewards are worth the extra effort.

Responsibilities of Board Members
  • Represent the Chapter at the National annual meeting
  • Attend all Chapter functions, meetings and Chapter board meetings
  • Shall be an ex-officio member of all committees
  • Executes the plans and policies of the Chapter
  • Prepares the meeting agenda and is the presiding officer of the Chapter
President Elect
  • Completes the term, if the president is unable to fulfill their term
  • Should be familiar with all the Chapter manuals and Chapter Bylaws
  • Works with the president to learn all of the Chapter operations and policies
  • Co-chairs the silent auction and Wine Gala committee
  • Monitors Chapter activities to ensure compliance with the Chapter Bylaws
  • Monitors the Chapter's goals for progress in attaining those goals


  • Attends all Chapter and Board meetings, records minutes of the meetings
  • Should be familiar with Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised
  • Responsible for the financial records of the Chapter
  • Compiles and maintains the financial records of the Chapter
  • Prepares the monthly financial statements and the annual budget
  • Handles the cash receipts and disbursements of the Chapter
Immediate Past President
  • Chairs the Nominating committee
  • Provides support and feedback to the Chapter Board
Directors and Chairs
  • Serve as directors and chairs of the Program, Scholarship, Hospitality, Membership, Newsletter and CPE committees
  • Select members to serve on their committees
  • Attend all Chapter and Board meetings
